First responders were called to the scene near the Tom Street Bridge at approximately 11.35am on Thursday 10 November. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to news reports.
Authorities said the man may have been recorded dancing on the truck. A video shared on Facebook shows the man dancing on the trailer before the fatal crash.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was questioned by the police and released. Authorities said he did not know someone was in his truck.

According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), a red Kenworth tractor trailer was traveling south on the Eastex Freeway when a 25-year-old man “jumped and climbed onto” the truck’s trailer without the trucker’s knowledge.
The men started dancing and possibly registered, HPD said. “As the 18-wheeler passed under the Tuam Street bridge, the man was hit and thrown from the trailer onto the main carriageway.”
Ambulance personnel arrived at the scene and took the man to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
